Where Did You Lose It?

Where Did You Lose It?

Where Did You Lose It?

2 Kings 6:1-7

How refreshing it is to be introduced in the scriptures to a man of industry, spirituality, principle and humility.  Such a man was the prophet Elisha, who was the spiritual father of student prophets.  When one student (a son of the prophet) lost a borrowed axe head in the river Jordan, he came to Elisha for guidance.

1.Admittance.

The student admitted he lost the borrowed axe head, which was a precious tool. Admittance is hard because it leads to responsibility, and responsibility is seldom easy. But responsibility makes recovery possible.

2. Admittance & Responsibility Open the Door to God’s Possibilities.

The son of the prophet wanted to maintain his integrity, and believed in the process of recovery.  God is necessary, but those who love and follow God are also necessary to the recovery process.  The transparency in relationships is central to effective counsel and support.  God is in the business of recovery, whether for lost precious items, hope, direction in life or relationships.

3. Recovery is a Sticky Process.

Elisha threw a stick in the water where the axe head was lost.  Just as there was a place of loss, there was a place of recovery.  There is a stick, a tree that can solve every problem, heal every wound and restore every soul, the tree called Calvary.
