Shortly, millions will go to the polls to vote in the midterm elections.  The news media are closely monitoring contested campaigns because there is a great thirst for power.  Millions will vote on Tuesday, but how many will attend prayer meetings on Wednesday?  Jesus exhorted His disciples then and us today with three simple words “when you pray.”  He was teaching the power of prayer, the power of praying together and the power of being united in prayer to glorify the Father, petition God for His rule and will on earth, for the need for daily bread, the need for forgiveness, and the need for deliverance from evil.

God Directs Your Heart Towards Simplistic/Moderation Of Life.
“Give us this day our daily bread” teaches us not to be overly anxious about daily trials since God will supply our daily needs.  We are to be “anxious for nothing but in all things by prayer in supplication” make our requests known to God.  Since He already knows our needs, He supplies beforehand, revealing the answer to prayer when it is required according to His plan.

God Directs Your Heart To A Life Of Forgiveness.
Forgiveness is not easy but as necessary for healthy living as is prayer, proper nutrition and exercise.  It improves emotional health, reduces stress and protects the heart’s performance.

God Assures You Of His Deliverance.
There are many temptations and snares in life, but God can keep us from falling.  We are not to foolishly place ourselves in compromising situations, or deliberately choose sinful options.  Just as God delivered Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego from the fiery furnace, and Daniel from the lion, He can deliver us.
