My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
It is with great joy in the Lord that I acquaint you with a wonderful ministry known as HopeKeepers of Woodstream Church, a Christian-based support group for people with chronic health conditions (founded through Rest Ministries, Inc.).
HopeKeepers reaches out to men and women who are faced with the burdens of chronic illness, and allows us to carry out Christ’s commandment to comfort others with the same comfort that we have received from Him (2 Corinthians 1:3-7).
A small chapter of HopeKeepers was started at Woodstream Church (formerly the Landover Memorial Baptist Church) in 1999 by the Women’s Ministry in response to the number of women who were coping with health problems of their own or those of a loved one. It was discovered that these women sometimes faced a crisis of their faith while coping with their health problems. Through this ministry, the Lord established among the participants that He is intimately acquainted with our suffering, and He desires to demonstrate His compassion towards us.
I believe the Lord’s goals through HopeKeepers is (1) to show sufferers that they are not alone in their condition, and (2) to help them maintain a vibrant relationship with Christ throughout their experiences.
This group site is designed to
- Connect viewers to health associations and provide information to help people become proactive in their health management.
- Explore the significance of Jesus’ healing ministry through Biblical examples that are directly relevant to our circumstances.
- Provide a forum where people can exchange experiences and encourage each other in their journey.
God Bless,
Peggy Johnson
