Judges 17:6

“In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did whatever he wanted.”  This HCSB translation of Judges reflects a time when God’s authority was rejected and moral relativism reigned.  The religious way of life was in ruins with the abandonment of the true faith.  Our society today is rapidly declining to that same low state.  Many have faith in faith, but not faith in God; many have redefined the faith to reflect worldly values.  The churches that used to be filled with the faithful are now filled with the foolish and rebellious.  The longer we persist in sin, the longer and more deplorable our conditions will get, taking many generations to repair.  The classic signs of the fall of the Roman Empire are evident in our nation, and apart from divine intervention indicate the collapse of our country and its freedoms.

Rejection Of Authority Breeds Confusion.

Moral relativism rejects God’s authority; everyone becomes their own god with no accountability.  The rejection of God’s final authority results in two options:  authoritarian regimes or anarchy.  Apart from God, man becomes a tyrant and a perverse moral deviant capable of vulgar debauchery.  The resulting confusion destroys the binding societal structures of family, marriage and children.

Religious Relativism Leads To Cultural Atheism.

Churches are increasingly lacking in conviction, compromising God’s commands to accommodate pagan thought, associations and values.  When the church is simply the extension of worldly values, it falls into contempt and loses the respect needed to inspire repentance.

God Is Longsuffering.

God is graceful. Rather than destroying us for our disobedience and sin, He has chosen to wait for us to repent.
