Areas of Service

 

*     Audio Set-Up Team        

To set up and operate all video/audio systems for the worship service.

*     A Mother’s Heart

A ministry of support to women and their families impacted by: Infant Death, Stillbirth, Miscarriage, Problem Pregnancy & Delivery, Infertility, and Abortion.

*     Caregivers Support Group

To provide encouragement and support, address emotional and spiritual needs, share information and provide a safe place to meaningfully share with other caregivers who face similar challenges.

 *     CD/DVD Ministry

To record services on audio tape and provide those recordings to the membership.

*     Church Archives

To compile and record historical events of Woodstream.

*     College & More Connections Ministry (CMC)

This aids in the cultivation of a conductive church atmosphere for entreating college age young adults to the commitment of the cause of Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:14-15.

*     Joining with Joy

“Joining with Joy” is designed with the new member in mind. The goals are: greeting the new convert/member, leading new convert/member to Discovery Class, shepherding, and connecting members to other members and ministries.

*     Joshua Generation 

A Young Adult Ministry of Woodstream Church. To serve as a ministry that focuses on real & relevant issues encountered by young adult Christians in order to maintain our upward relationship; build inward relationships; and serve others.

 *     Marriage Enrichment/Family & Marriage Ministry:

To affirm and promote growth in marriages, to give direction, and to help the ordinary couples struggling with the daily question of marriage. This group meets on Sunday mornings during Sunday School. Offers Family, Marriage and Premarital Counseling, Video Conference and Retreats.

*     Missions-Short Term/Long Term

Long-Term missions is designed to keep us updated on what is going on in the lives of the missionaries the church supports throughout the world. They correspond with the families of our missionaries. Short-term missions team target a foreign country/locale for the purpose of introducing the indigenous people to Christ.

*     Nursing Home

To provide encouragement and support in the way of a worship service to the residents at Grant Park Care Center.

*     Repast Ministry

To provide encouragement and hospitality to the bereaved families of the church. Also provide meals following home-going services.

*     Scholarship Committee

To assist students who are pursuing a college education by providing financial assistance, information resources, mentoring, and testing.

*     Titus II

This special Small Group meets on Wednesday mornings at 10:00 a.m. and is designed specifically for the seasoned women (age 55+) in our church family. 

*     Women’s Ministries Prayer Team

To encourage and intercede for others through prayers of specific requests. This ministry meets every first Saturday from 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.

 

Children’s Ministries

 

 *     Kidz Life (Pre-School through 6th Grade)

To teach the gospel according to God’s Word to children. There are Sunday School classes for 2-3 year olds, 4-5 year olds, 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd-4th grade, 5th-6th grade boys, 5th-6th grade girls.

*     Worship Kidstyle

To provide a spiritually based instructional time for children during worship services with songs, games, Bible stories. Ages are 2-5 year olds (separate classes for each age).

*     Nursery

To provide godly oversight and teaching for infants and children to age two during worship services and other selected events.

*     Girl Scouts

Affiliated with the Girl Scouts of America, this program is designed for girls in kindergarten through middle school and helps them learn more about themselves, to serve God and their country, and help others. Meetings are held on Fridays at 7:00pm.

*     Girls of CHARACTER, Young Ladies of Grace, Young Ladies of Dignity

This ministry is designed to disciple young ladies ages 7-17; equipping them to make sound, biblical choices in the areas of Christian character, acquiring life skills, and future career selections. Partnering with parents, the young ladies are provided Godly instruction in all areas of their lives.

*     God’s Kharacter Kidz

God’s Kharacter Kidz (Wednesday Night Bible Study Ministry) focuses on teaching children ages 2 years old to 6th grade the Word of God in a developmentally appropriate, fun manner.

*     Young Men of Faith

This ministry challenges young men ages 6-12 to think, act, and support one another while fostering Christian brotherhood, fellowship, and service. They will study Bible verses to develop and enhance their walk with Christ and their sphere of influence.

 

Counseling Ministries

 

 *     Caregivers Support Group

The Caregivers Support Group provides encouragement and support to those who are the primary caregivers to the aged or chronically ill. This group addressed emotional and spiritual needs, shares information and provides a safe place to meaningfully share with other caregivers facing similar challenges.

 *     Choosing Wisely Before You Divorce​

If you are thinking about calling it quits, wait.  In just five sessions, learn about the spiritual, emotional, physical, financial and legal realities associated with divorce before you decide.  They are often more painful than the crisis you are facing in your marriage.

 *     Counseling Ministry

The Counseling Ministry offers counsel to individuals, couples and families of Woodstream Church and the surrounding community in accordance with the biblical principles adhered to by Woodstream Church. Lay and professionally trained ministry members live out God’s truth in love through relationships in order that we may encourage and equip counselees to commune with Christ, be conformed to His image and repent from sin to experience the full measure of God’s love, grace and mercy.

 *     DivorceCare

DivorceCare is a biblically based 13-week support group for men and women suffering the pain of separation and divorce. The group will address real issues like anger, depression, loneliness, financial survival, forgiveness, moving on and much more. New participants are welcome at any time.

*     Grief Recovery Support Group

An action program for moving beyond death, divorce and other losses. In this 6-week program you will discover the emotional pain caused by losses in your life.

*     HopeKeepers

The HopeKeepers ministry supports and encourages members coping with and overcoming the daily challenges of living with a chronic disease.

  

Music Ministries 

 

 *     Children of Promise

This Choir is comprised of children between the ages of 2 and 4. They rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 6.30pm to 7:15pm and sings once every month.

*     Hands of Worship Deaf Ministry

To communicate the gospel message and to interpret during Sunday morning and Wednesday evening services through sign language to those people who are either deaf or hearing impaired.

 *     Kairos Kids

This choir is comprised of children between the ages of 6 and 12. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings from 7:15pm – 8:15pm. The choir sings every other month.

 *     Men’s Chorus

The chorus rehearses on Tuesday evenings at 8:15pm and sings at least once a month

 *     Praise and Worship Team

The team is comprised of approximately 16 singers and rehearses on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. and sings at least once a month. The goal is to open the worship services invoking a spirit of worship and praise unto the Lord.

*     Ringing Praise Hand Bell Choir

The hand bell choir is multi–generational and is comprised of approxi­mately 20 ringers and perform at concerts and special holiday services. Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings at 6:00 pm.

*     Worship Choir

The choir is comprised of saved and baptized members of Woodstream aged 13 and older. The choir ministers at the Sunday morning worship services and at other special holiday services. Rehearsal is held on Wednesday evenings at 8:15pm.

 

 

Teen Ministries

 

*     Students With A Testimony (S.W.A.T.)

For youth in grades seven to twelve meeting on Friday evenings this fellowship provides a godly alternative to “hanging out at the movies or mall.” S.W.A.T. Team meetings are varied and can consist of guest speakers and fun activities from roller skating to church “lock-ins.”

 

 

Other Ministries

 

*     Academic Enrichment Ministry I

To tutor and instruct Woodstream teens in the areas of Math, English and Scholastic Aptitude Test preparation by utilizing the God given abilities of each student in combination with focused self-esteem and confidence principles.

*     Academic Enrichment Ministry Featuring Career Direct & SAT Tutorial II

Career Direct is a computerized program which enables a student to discover God-given talents and spiritual gifts. It also gives the students the idea of a possible major in which to apply for when they go to college.

 *     Dance Ministry

This ministry seeks to fulfill the praise and worship of God through the ministry of dance that is pleasing and Christ-centered. The dance team ministers before the congregation during worship services and special occasions to usher in a spirit of reverence, worship and celebration, and to prepare the congregation to receive the Word of the Lord brought forth during the message.

 *     Drama Ministry

To produce and facilitate drama presentations which educate, entertain, uplift and glorify the name of Jesus Christ.

*     Fellowship of Moms with Young Children

To equip, support, and encourage mothers of young children from birth to age five.

*     Financial Stewardship Ministry (Crown Financial Ministries) & Stewardship Campaign & Estate Planning Committee:

To teach people God’s financial principles. Offers classes in the Spring & Fall. Classes are for those seeking true financial freedom God’s Way. The purpose of Estate Planning offers seminars to encourage and challenge Woodstream Church members to make adequate planning for their family and the distribution of their estate in a Christian manner. 

*     Heart-to-Heart Homeschool Support Group

The purpose of Heart-to-Heart is to foster an atmosphere where Woodstream Homeschool families are encouraged through discussion, fellowship, and prayer. Det. 6:7 “And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shall talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

*     Homeless Outreach Ministry

Meet and present the gospel to those whom we pass by on the street every day. Not to single out just homeless individuals, but everyone we encounter.

*     HopeKeepers

A ministry for those with chronic illnesses. This group provides support and encouragement for those in the midst of difficult circumstances, and those overcoming daily challenges of living with chronic illnesses.

 

*     Information Technology Ministry

To enhance worship, service, stewardship, and outreach-evangelism by using the internet, multimedia, and telecommunications.

*     Men’s Fellowship

To provide nourishment and support for men 18 and over.

*     Mom 2 Mom.

A ministry of encouragement, support and fellowship for married moms. Mom 2 Mom meets monthly to help Woodstream young moms connect and establish relationships with one another.

*     Pastoral Christian Counseling

To counsel individuals, couples, and families on any of life’s many problems and/or concerns using the Word of God as the final authority on how Christians should handle these issues. Counseling may be arranged by appointment.

*     Pink Rain Ministry

Provides hope when all seems lost. This is dedicated to providing breast cancer patients a chance to say, “I can beat cancer”, by providing individuals, their families and their loved ones with education, support, and access to early detection.

*     Prison Ministry

Expresses God’s love to those who are incarcerated in P.G. County Maryland by bringing forward Gospel of Jesus Christ, by allowing God to save, recommit, encourage, reassure and strengthen the hearts and lives of the men and women incarcerated.

 *     Project Redemptive Love

Assimilates at-risk families into a nurturing culture that helps to establish or restore hope, self-worth, character and life skills to become functional families, contributors to society, and good citizens.

*     Seasonal Ministry/ Events

These take place over a time period of several weeks to a month or so. A person may serve a short time in any of these ministries:

*     The Sparrows’ Nest (TSN) Ministries 

TSN Ministries provides an outlet in which local youth ages 13-18 have a safe place gather for one-on-one and group mentoring, etiquette training and character and cultural development. This program is used to poise young leaders to take their place in the world as Godly forerunners doing the will of the Lord.

*     Sunday Morning West Wing Eatery

To welcome visitors and members with pastries, coffee, hot chocolate, juice, etc and to promote a time of sweet fellowship and reconnections among members of friends.
